Hartpury University and Hartpury College has partnered with one of the UK’s fastest growing recruitment companies to drive awareness of the opportunities in the tech sector for its budding students.
Hamilton Barnes, the leading provider of talent solutions to the network engineering sector, has signed a year’s sponsorship to become a business friend of Hartpury and the ICE (Innovation, Careers and Enterprise) Centre to educate students about the range of careers available across sectors like Fibre, Cybersecurity, Enterprise, and Network Security.
Hartpury is among the UK’s leading specialist higher and further education providers in animal, agriculture, equine, sport and veterinary nursing. The Gloucestershire institution will benefit from Hamilton Barnes’ expertise as it collaborates to host workshops for students around CV writing, LinkedIn optimisation, interview tips and general career advice, including the options available to students after study.
The recruiter will also sponsor Hartpury University Men’s BUCS 1st XV team, which plays in BUCS Super Rugby, the highest level of men’s university rugby in Britain, with Hamilton Barnes’ logo featured on the rugby team kit.
The sponsorship launched at Hartpury’s home fixture against Cardiff Metropolitan University on Wednesday 2nd November, with Hamilton Barnes’ Associate Director, James Dean, in attendance. In a closely fought game, Cardiff just edged Hartpury with a 25-26 victory.
Simon Spooner, Head of Innovation, Careers and Enterprise at Hartpury University and Hartpury College said: “We’re delighted that Hamilton-Barnes can join us in the pathway journey for our students as they embark on making future choices about their careers after Hartpury University and College.
“Having a specialist recruitment organisation onboard is a massive asset to ensure that we are able to work together in partnership and bring current recruitment market information and guidance on how students can really sell their capabilities to prospective employers. We’re particularly excited to welcome Hamilton Barnes as the title sponsor of our A-Levels progression week in June, which will bring a variety of engaging workshops and information to students”
Several Hartpury Alumni have joined Hamilton Barnes and are forging successful careers in the tech sector. Ben Davies has progressed from trainee consultant to heading up the firm’s Benelux practice, whilst Troy Brocklebank and Harry Robinson are both Network Consultants, Troy working within the Internet Service Provider market across the Netherlands and Harry with a remit in the Enterprise space.
James Dean, Associate Director at Hamilton Barnes, commented, “Internet connectivity has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and Hartpury’s reputation as one of the UK’s most renowned educational institutions makes it a perfect partner to further the work Hamilton Barnes does across schools and universities. From network engineers to cybersecurity specialists and network security architects, Hamilton Barnes is placing skilled people in key roles to facilitate growth and help organisations scale, and exceptional young talent will be key to continuing this advancement. Adoption of a secure, data-first culture is fuelling faster demand for talent than ever before, and we look forward to working with Hartpury to educate its students about the career opportunities that this burgeoning sector affords.”
Hamilton Barnes’ specialism within the sector, coupled with a number of measures that guaranteed colleagues’ job security, ensured the firm’s success through the pandemic, with the firm tripling its turnover and growing its headcount by five times in the last three years.
